Kevin Liska

for MARCH 2002

Hello friends!

Here I am again for this month's featured band member of the month. Mr. March hails from our percussion section and is looking for a job in the field of retail management or entry level human resources in the Chicago South area now that he has graduated from college. If anyone knows of any leads, please talk to him. Let's get to know the entertaining Mr. March, Kevin Liska. Woo hoo!

Sincerely mitted,
Linda Riha

First name?
My first name is Kevin. Anything else you hear is a filthy lie. Unless it's flattering, of course.

In which town do you live?
Tinley Park

< Kevin gives the “once over” to an as-large-as-your-head pretzel at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich.
Kevin, looking forward to eight hours in economy class with the band. >

How do you make your living?
I actually just graduated college (Governors State University). I am currently in the brief, weird point of my life where school has ended and I am looking for a real job. While I was a student (and now for the meantime), I make money as a video store clerk. (If you've ever seen the movie "Clerks," that's me behind the counter.)

How long have you been a member of the Arts Alive Band?
2 years, then 4 years off, and now the last 5 years.

What instrument(s) do you play?
I play the wide variety of percussion equipment piled in the back of the band room during rehearsals. I think the one instrument I excel at most is throwing loose change at the timpani from a distance in order to get varying sounds from them. It works best when the rest of the band is playing really softly and Jim Ziska is the one actually behind the timpani.

< Looking for a new vehicle, Kevin tries a U.S. Army tank.
The king looks out upon his kingdom, as Kevin surveys the land on World Tour 2000. >

How long have you been playing it/them?
13 years

Are you involved in any other musical groups, either inside or outside the Arts Alive system? If so, which ones?
I've been in a bunch. Right now I am in the Moraine Valley Jazz Band. I've been in so many other bands in and out of high school that I can't even remember them all now. I am also in a 4 man rock/jam band tentatively called Funkitron 5000 (though we change the name every rehearsal, you know, for tax purposes). We'll be playing the World (sorry, the 'Tweeter') soon…. yea right!

What do you like most about this group?
The music and the people. It makes playing so much fun (as music should be)!

< The band rocks Düdelsheim!

Kevin bakes on stage at Marktplatz in Büdingen. >

Describe your best/favorite band moment:
The Düdelshiem concert in Germany, summer of 2000. We rocked that place!!

What are your hobbies?
Music (naturally), movies, watching sports, chasing women, fishing, “phishing” -- you know, normal guy stuff.

< Kevin, doing “normal guy stuff” with his brother Tom.

Jealous of all the time he spends in band,
Kevin's cat decides to take up the drums. >

What is your favorite Jell-O flavor?
Any eatable kind will do.

Is there anything else you want your band friends to know about you?
Mark is the evil twin, not me. Really!!
