THE MUSIC
The Tinley Park “Arts Alive!” Community Band is proud to present this "sampler" of the music performed by generations of American bands and bandsmen. Featured are pieces by the American composers Sousa, Ellington, Gershwin, Grafulla, Turpin, Goldman, Fillmore, Duble, Root and Ward. Also included are pieces by international composers, celebrating our country's musical and social diversity.

Bands have always been an important part of our American musical heritage. From colonial days through the early 1800s to the 21st century, band music has been heard at America's commemorations, dedications, festivals, parades and “summer concerts in the park.” To the delight of millions of listeners, school and college bands, military bands, community bands and professional bands continue this tradition. Band music will always hold a special place in the hearts and minds of Americans.
